The Sun as the Moon

Some of you may not have known that last Sunday we had a eclipse occur, not a full one, though, just about 70-80%.  You might have known because my mom called a few people about it, but good thing for you, if you didn’t know, I took pictures so you can see. (Obviously not pictures of the sun!) My dad lined up his telescope up with the sun and then held a sheet of paper over the eyepiece, so that you could see how much of the sun was covered by the moon. The sun was starting to set, so you couldn’t see the eclipse by glancing at the sun, but it was noticeably darker for the position of the sun. (It looked like it had almost finished setting even though it had a good 20-30 minutes left.) I’ll give you the pictures, but let me explain a few of them first. The ones with a bunch of tiny shadows in the perfect shape of the eclipse, are perfect copies shown through the tiny holes between the leaves. It is sort of hard for me to explain them, but the picture makes it more understandable. (If anyone else has a better way to explain it, feel free to comment about it! 😀 ) Anyways here are the pictures:

My dad's telescope

The pictures aren’t amazing, but the whole idea of an eclipse is! So have a great rest of the weekend, I’ll post more soon!
