School Post: French

Hey my little leaders!!! What’s happening? I’ve missed you guys, I haven’t posted on here in what feels like weeks! My life hasn’t changed too much since the last post. A few interesting things:

  • I’ve cut my hand twice now in our freezer on ICE. I know, weird…
  • I got certified for CPR (a while ago actually: Sept)
  • I entered a reading challenge thing at our library for October. Read 3000+ pages, but still lost. (Haha, I check my literature books out of the library–they count!)
  • Had a swim meet last weekend, dropped some time, added some.
  • Piper turned 15!!!!
  • Had a church pumpkin decorating/pizza & pie eating night, where Piper gave me an awesome Sharpie tattoo.
  • Stole Piper after the church thing, made her watch hilarious YouTube videos all night until her parents paid the ransom of pumpkin pancakes with faces in them. (Ok, it didn’t happen quite like that…)

Yeah, that’s life pretty much right now. Anyways, I titled this post as a school post on French. All I can think of to post on is school, so I’m lacking in topics for blog posts. If you guys have requests, I’d love to hear them. Now, my French class:

We are the best French class in the world. We laugh all the time and learn French at the same time. I never thought I’d love French this much. My classmates are hilarious and we make Mme laugh all the time! Once while we were reading a funny skit in class, and we were waiting for her to turn the page on the screen. She wasn’t responding, until finally she told us that she had fallen out of her chair laughing! Yep, it’s awesome. French comes easily to me too. I don’t know how to explain it, but it just makes sense: the pronunciation, the grammar, everything!

My class is online. It’s a live class though, we meet once a week. I actually have two French classes, so I meet with them twice. We talk a lot over microphones and a chat box. We do a lot of culture stuff too. Homework is all typed and uploaded, while one set is graded in class. This class is through a online school, you can take all of your classes there, but I don’t.

Mme has gotten me hooked on French. I love reading things outside of class. Nothing thrills me more than finding a label or instructions for something, and being able to read it in French! It’s amazing! I own a bunch of books now in French too! (I even own a horse magazine in French!)

  • Les Oeufs Verts au Jambon (Green Eggs and Ham)
  • La Belle et la Bête (Beauty and the Beast, not a Disney book)
  • Eloise à Paris (Eloise in Paris)
  • Babar et ce Coquin d’Arthur ( Babar and That Rascal Arthur)
  • Lettres de Mon Moulin (Letters of My Windmill)
  • Nouvelle Testament et Psaumes (New Testament and Psalms Bible)
  • Passport to French (a textbook that’s not for my class.)
  • French Without Toil {I think that’s what that one’s called…} (textbook)

It’s just so much fun reading this stuff! I know Jacob loves reading in German too! He’s reading Harry Potter right now in German! I think that’s amazing! (Jacob’s my bro, for anyone who doesn’t know.)

Does anyone else just love the language you’re learning or learned? Did you know you were going to like it?

xx

P.S. Unless you guys give me some topics, I’m going to torture you with details on all my school subjects! No pressure. 😉

I’m so glad you enjoy learning French! I mean, if you’re going to learn it might as well like it! 🙂 I’m learning Spanish and it’s the same for me, the grammar and all that stuff just makes sense. It’s fun. I love being able to read Spanish, even if it’s just a little bit! 🙂

I know right?! So many people I know don’t enjoy the language they are learning! It’s just such a waste because it can be so much fun!
