This last weekend I had a swim meet. Swim meets always run Saturday and Sunday, unless it’s a special meet and then it runs from Thursday to Sunday. This meet was a normal one, I got up at six each morning (without an alarm clock or someone waking me up!) and sat through the morning meet. (There’s always two sessions, afternoon for the older kids and morning for the younger ones.) Talked, cheered, and swam with my friends once the afternoon started. Dropped time in most of my events and added in one or two.

Overall it was a good meet. The best meets are the ones where I spend a lot of time bonding with my friends. One of my old coaches used to get mad at me, because she thought I was swimming for my friends. As in: the only reason I was on the team was my friends. Honestly that’s true. If I didn’t have my friends most likely I wouldn’t be on a swim team because there are other things I love to do just as much or more. I don’t think anyone would do anything if they didn’t have friends.
I was really tired last night and so was my family. We went to bed at 9 or so and I didn’t get up until 8. (after waking up at 6:30. my mind thought I had another meet.) Even after almost 11 hours of sleep, I felt more tired than I did last night at 9. Here are two pics of me swimming the butterfly in a 200 IM.
In the first pic of me–see the girl on the left? She’s Celine. We have known each other ever since we were six or seven. We have never been on the same team before. We met because when we were little we always saw each other at meets. We were always in the same events too! So we became friends and we still talk when we see each other. In this last meet we were in the same events and in 2 we swam next to each other. Before our races we joked about when we were seven and racing each other then too. She is a REALLY fast backstroker, my times are nowhere near hers, but I can beat her in IM and breaststroke. I don’t know about fly and free though.
I also saw another super old friend at this meet. I don’t have a picture of her, but her name is Anya. Actually that’s her nickname, but I don’t remember what her name is. (she told me when I was like 7, I’ve always called her Anya) Anya is super sweet and we talk like old friends. Our ages are different so there’s no competition between us. It’s still fun to see/talk to her though!
woo-hoo! awesome meet pictures! i love any pics from meets!
Haha! Why do you like the meet pictures so much? 😀
